Living On Purpose

#171 ~ Salmon are sacred - Alexandra Morton

| May 8, 2010

Show Notes:

Lynn Thompson caught up with Luke Rogers and Alexandra Morton in the group walking through Lantzville on May 4th on their way from Sointula (leaving April 23) heading to Victoria (to arrive May 8th) with a culminating gathering at the Legislature that afternoon.

Get Out Migration is a call to action to make Canadian government aware that many of the public insist that wild salmon take higher priority than farm salmon. Alexandra Morton is a scientist, whale researcher and author and is 'a lightning rod' for awareness shared with a growing number of the population concerned about the plight of whales and wild salmon. Since 1984 she and her family have been based on the west coast of Canada in the small community of Echo Bay that has been directly affected by the emergence of foreign-owned fish farms. She is the director of the Raincoast Research Society in that community and she founded the Pacific Coast Wild Salmon Society.
