Candelaria and Herman Zapp traveled from Argentina to Alaska in a 1928 Graham Paige car. A proposed 6 month trip stretched into 3 years, 7+ months, and 43,612 miles of adventure, synchronicity and heart-warming connections.

They left as a young married couple, and finished the trip as a family, their first son being born along the way…

Today they are a family of 5, their 3rd child, a daughter being born late November, mere days after their arrival back in Parksville. Yup, still driving the car – top speed 35mph!

Lynn Thompson caught up with them at a private home in Lantzville on Vancouver Island, where new friends had invited the Zapps to visit and share ideas about their upcoming journey to Asia. This conversation recorded in the first week of January 2008 illustrates their joy and wonder as they live their dream.
