Documenting Global Activism: Denise Chong on Egg On Mao

| October 14, 2009

Show Notes:

In 1989 Hunanese bus mechanic Lu Decheng joined in with the student protests at Tienanmen Square. Weeks into the demonstration, he and two friends filled eggshells with paint and launched them at the portrait of Chairman Mao that presides over Tienanmen. That action set Lu Decheng on course for a life of imprisonment and harassment. After serving 11 years of a 16-year sentence, Lu Decheng is now in Canada.

Denise Chong has written his story, and she joined us in the rabble book lounge.
