The Indian state of Orissa is rich in resources, yet the vast majority of its people live in poverty. Dr. Manoranjan Mohanty is originally from Orissa and has been actively involved there with the people's resistance movements. Dr. Mohanty is currently visiting professor in global and international studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
