Redeye

Vermeer, Rembrandt and the Golden Age of Dutch Art

| July 6, 2009

Show Notes:

The current show at the Vancouver Art Gallery showcases Dutch art at a time when the merchant class was becoming the ruling class. Laura Lamb finds the paintings an intriguing window on the tension between the Dutch merchants' pleasure in their wealth and their belief in the meaninglessness of worldly things.
