The Democratic Republic of the Congo has suffered from a resource-fueled conflict that has cost millions of lives. Now the Canadian gold-mining company Banro has announced it wants to go into a relatively peaceful area of the country and extract a huge amount of gold. We speak with John Lasker, an independent journalist who writes about the Congo.
