The fact that Vancouver Cooperative Radio still exists, 35 years after its founding, is no small accomplishment says Mordecai Briemberg.  He argues that alternative media is now more essential than ever in providing alternatives to the isolating and dehumanizing effects of dominant mainstream institutions.
