In the 1980s Pamela Yates directed When The Mountains Tremble, a film about the war waged by the military against the Mayan population in Guatemala. Her most recent film Granito is showing at the Vancouver International Film Festival. Granito is the story of how the outtakes from the 1983 documentary were used to construct a case against one of the perpetrators of the genocide in Guatemala. Film critics Marty and Martha Roth went to see the film. It's showing October 9 in Vancouver.
