Show Notes:
Northwest Cascade Power Ltd. has asked the Ministry of Environment to remove part of Pinecone Burke Provincial Park to allow a transmission line to connect with its proposed run-of-the-river power project in the upper Pitt River Valley.
The removal would be allowed under legislation passed in 2004, allowing pieces of parks to be removed on a case by case basis, for "economic, environmental and societal benefits that exceed preserving the integrity of the existing park boundary and values".
Elaine Golds worked hard to have this area declared a Class A Provincial Park and she's opposed to the proposal. >> get more info
