How eating meat harms the environment

| November 3, 2007

Show Notes:

Last May an official within the United Kingdom’s Department of Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs said that “key environmental behaviour changes are needed to save the planet”.

The behavioural change he was referring to was the consumption of meat. Meat, long associated with a number of health and environmental problems, is now a target in the fight against global warming.

A recent study published in the Lancet points out that although veganism would have a positive environmental impact, it is not a realistic proposal for most people and points to a number of other solutions. We speak with Dr.John Powles, co-author of the study.
