La Via Campesina is a global movement of peasant farmers formed in 1993. They believe that food sovereignity is the only answer to the recurring crises in the world's food system.

We speak with Annette Desmarais, who has worked as technical support for La Via Campesina for more than 15 years. Annette Desmarais is a professor in the Department of Justice Studies at the University of Regina.
