Lord Selkirk Park, Winnipeg

| January 17, 2008

Show Notes:

Lord Selkirk Park is in Winnipeg’s North End. It was built in 1967 as part of a nation-wide process of urban renewal. Since then, it’s become one of the city’s lowest-income neighbourhoods.

Two years ago, many residents said they were worried about gangs, drugs and violence. But now there is energy and a new mood of optimism in the area locals call “the Developments”.

Jim Silver is co-author of the third annual State of the Inner City report. It highlights recent positive steps that have improved the quality of life for residents of Lord Selkirk Park.  >> get more info
