My Kid Could Paint That follows the meteoric career of pre-school abstract expressionistic painter, Marla Olmstead. The film starts out as an examination of the nature of abstract art, but quickly turns into a family drama about the effect of celebrity on a family.

In the end, the filmmaker is grapples with the question of who is actually painting the pictures that have sold for prices in the thousands of dollars.
