The Pan Am Clinic was originally established in Winnipeg in 1979 as a private sports medicine clinic. Dr. Wayne Hildahl was the majority owner until 2001 when he sold to the Manitoba government.

The thing that makes the Pan Am clinic unique is that it’s still run by its original private owner. Dr. Wayne Hildahl is now Chief Operating Officer of the clinic.

He spoke recently at an evening organized by the BC Health Coalition. He talks about the evolution of the clinic from private to public ownership and the advantages he has found of working within the public system.
