Today Vancouver City Council will vote on a proposal to put a giant Canadian Tire on a parcel of light industrial land in South Vancouver.

Two years ago local residents successfully organized against a Walmart on the same piece of land. They say the big box model generates thousands of new car trips a day and destroys neighbourhood street life.
