The Drummond report: The good, the bad and the ugly
How should the Ontario government respond to the Drummond report?
Choices
Dump it. Drummond's recommendations hearken back to cuts under the dark ages of former premier Mike Harris.
Consider it. While the McGuinty government prevented the Commission from considering tax rates, it proposes some sensible measures to raise revenue.
Scrap it. More cuts to social services and privatization of health care and education services is not the way to go.
Revise and adopt it. The Ontario government should adopt the good, minimize the bad by reversing corporate tax cuts and permanently restricting HST input tax credits, and forget the ugly.
