Lashing out at the minority Conservatives over employment insurance, isotopes and the deficit, Ignatieff said his party "will make a serene and clear decision" by midweek about whether it wants to topple the Tories.
Even if they wished to, the Liberals couldn't take down the Conservatives by themselves; they need support from both other opposition parties. Ignatieff said he had not consulted them.
Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe was unimpressed.
"Ignatieff has been switching positions since he became leader," Duceppe said. "He gets up in the House and says 'How can we have confidence in this government?' and then when it comes time to vote, he switches positions and votes with the government."
REPORT CARD
NDP House leader Libby Davies was non-committal about her party's potential support. "We're not going to say in advance without knowing what the motion is."

Anyone know why he would have used the word "serene" in his ocmmentary?
Anyone know why he would have used the word "serene" in his ocmmentary?
I don't know but this quote by Norman Mailer may help explain things.
America is a hurricane, and the only people who do not hear the sound are those fortunate if incredibly stupid and smug White Protestants who live in the center, in the serene eye of the big wind.

So true!
Politicians are going to switch positions, infact I demand it because its whats needed in a good leader, the courage to admit they were wrong while opening their minds to the possiblies. Its what I didn't like about Dion and believe it played a big part in his not being elected as he stuck to his carbon tax which thanks to the receission it wasn't needed anywhere because nobodies going anywhere except energy and its going up, up, up.
A serene decision is one in which the Big Guy insists on not being accountable to the issues or to the population.
The two Big Guys are playing chicken with each other... and all we get is omelet.
If you really want to make Iggy "serene", get a clove of garlic
Anyhow have done some looking into this, and apparently, "serene" could be in reference to his Russian royalty roots and their use of it. Or perhaps even Freemasonry.
