Artist: Feminist Current
Title: Feminist Current - Female emcees - RABBLE - Dec 28 2012
Year: 2012
Length: 30:12 minutes (27.65 MB)
Format: 44.1kHz, 128Kbps

Show Notes:

Rolling Stone magazine recently came out with a list of the 50 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs of All Time [9], which included only three female-fronted tracks [10]. With so many great female emcees out there, why are women so underrepresented in hip-hop and how can we change that?

Meghan Murphy speaks with Glennisha Morgan [11], a multimedia journalist, photographer and filmmaker who runs Fembassy [12], a blog site that is dedicated to female emcees and women in hip-hop. She is currently working on a documentary about female MCs called Turn Me Up [13]. Support her project at Indiegogo [14].

*Warning: there is explicit language in some of the music featured in this episode
