The Sandanista National Liberation Front came to power in Nicaragua in 1979. Ten years later, they lost power following a protracted war financed by the United States. Now Daniel Ortega is back as president and his socially conservative policies are having a dramatic effect on Nicaraguan women and the feminist movement there.
