An occupation at the Republic Doors and Windows plant in Chicago has won workers there a settlement worth $1.75 million. The laid-off employees will get 60 days pay, health insurance and accrued vacation. What's more, their union has formed a new foundation, Windows of Opportunity, devoted to reopening the factory.
Leah Fried is a field organizer with the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America Local 11-10. She tells us why the workers decided to occupy the factory and how they won the settlement.
