From October 31 to November 2, 2008, the Council of Canadians gathered in Edmonton, Alberta for its 23rd Annual General. The AGM was an opportunity to learn more about the Alberta tar sands, and about actions Canadians can undertake to confront the devastating and destructive pace of tar sands development. Guest speakers, allies and activists from Alberta and the rest of Canada spoke on a large number of issues related to Canada’s current energy boom. Featured here is the opening address.
