Sasha Wiley on police repression of Vancouver casseroles protests

Sasha Wiley, a Vancouver teacher, was the first speaker at a press conference held Friday, June 29 outside the courthouse and jail at 222 Main Street. She denounced the arrests by Vancouver police of herself and more than 10 other participants in casseroles protest actions over the past two weeks. In this clip, Wiley explains that at the time of her arrest Wednesday night she was even wearing the relevant section of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms on her clothing.

Vancouver launch of 'Occupy This!' with Judy Rebick and Musqueam spokesperson Cecilia Point

On Sunday, June 17, author and activist Judy Rebick spoke at a launch of her new book, 'Occupy This!' The event was held at the W2 Media Cafe, and sponsored by rabble.ca. Judy Rebick spoke about the lessons of the Occupy movement and also about the inspiring events around Quebec's student strike and 'Maple Spring'. In addition, to open the evening, Cecilia Point of the Musqueam First Nation spoke about their local struggle to save a sacred burial ground.

The Great Lakes are a common heritage that belongs to the Earth, other species and future generations as well as our own. Hear how we can collectively protect them from private interests and government complacency and restore more democratic control over them. On the last stop of her eight city tour to protect the Great Lakes, The Council of Canadians' Maude Barlow is joined by Thom McClenaghan, President, Friends of the Coves Subwatershed and Patrick Donnelly, Urban Watershed Program Manager City of London. The event began with children's choir - El Sistema London.  The lecture begins at 52 minutes into the video.

Quebec solidarity march in Ottawa
