This amazing resource Sex Work on the Hill: A Guide to Getting Involved in the Legislative Processes that Impact on our Lives by the Canadian Alliance for Sex Work Law Reform is extremely up to date, having been published in May 2014. With the laws around sex work changing rapidly, and new rulings from the Supreme Court inciting new bills like Bill C-36, figuring out how to be heard as a sex worker in legislative processes is more important than ever.

The guide covers the basics ins and outs of the system: how parliament works, how bills are passed and how workers can intervene. It also explains how to arrange meetings with MPs, what to expect, practical tips and strategic messaging and talking points. Finally the guide wraps up with a section on confronting stigma and how to use community knowledge to beat the system.

The guide is also available in French here!
