Our Times is an independent, pro-union Canadian labour magazine read by over 8,000 trade unionists, community activists and union supporters across the country. Dedicated to promoting workers' rights and social justice, Our Times publishes stories by and about frontline workers in Canada: miners and factory workers campaigning to make work-related deaths a corporate crime, service workers organizing, part-time and temp workers speaking out for fair working conditions, and health care, education and government workers fighting for high-quality public services. Our Times' focus is workers' rights and strong communities. We believe in jobs with justice, care for the environment, and international solidarity with workers everywhere.
Our Times is published six times a year by Our Times Publishing Inc., a federally incorporated non-profit organization managed by a volunteer board of directors. A staff of two work full time on the magazine, and they are members of the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union Local 591-G. Our Times is a member of Magazines Canada.
WHERE WE CAME FROM
Our Times was founded in 1981 by Frank Lento and Katie Pellizzari and friends as an alternative media for first-generation Italian-Canadian social activists in Toronto. Within a few years, with the help of the Toronto and York Region Labour Council, Our Times evolved into a full-fledged national labour magazine published by Our Times printshop, which produced high-quality design and print work for the labour movement and its allies for more than 10 years.
