Right now, people across Canada are fighting against the privatization of crown corporations, deregulation of ferries, and contracting out of work.  These are just some fightbacks against privatization happening across the country.  However, despite strong evidence questioning the efficacy of public private partnerships, the Federal Liberals and many provincial governments seem intent on continuing to privatize public assets for short term gain.

Recently CUPE 416, which represents the people working for the City of Toronto outside of City Hall, won an important fight against the conservative, business friendly mayor, John Tory,  and managed to keep garbage pick-up public and defer the privatization.  Make no mistake, the workers and their supporters will need to remain vigiliant in case the decision to privatize comes back.

CUPE 416 was kind enough to share their presentation on how they won.  The Activist Toolkit will continue to share wins against privatization.
