On Friday December 11th the Tim Posgate Hornband and the Creaking Tree String Quartet will come together for a special night of instrumental roots music.
In 2009 the Creaking Tree String Quartet were nominated for a Juno Award in the instrumental music category for "The Soundtrack" as well as winning two Canadian Folk Music Awards. The Tim Posgate Hornband has a new release entitled Banjo Hockey that is also receiving critical acclaim and recently completed a successful tour in British Columbia
A night of instrumental music punctuated by the obvious differences between a group with three horns (plus banjo) and "bluegrass-style" string quartet is an exciting event. Try to imagine tuba, banjo clarinet, trumpet, fiddle, acoustic bass, mandolin and guitar all under one roof.
"I am hoping there might be a little interaction between the two groups but there are no promises," says banjoist Tim Posgate.
