Catherine Frazee is a writer, educator and researcher whose work is informed by years of involvement in the equality struggles of marginalized groups, most notably during her term as Chief Commissioner of the Ontario Human Rights Commission from 1989 to 1992. A Professor of Distinction in the Disability Studies program at Ryerson University and Co-director of Ryerson's Institute for Disability Studies Research and Education, she has lectured and published extensively on issues related to disability rights, identity, culture and resistance. Along with her colleagues, Melanie Panitch and Kathryn Church, Dr. Frazee was one of the curators of Out From Under: Disability, History and Things to Remember, a groundbreaking exhibit of Canadian disability history that was featured at the Royal Ontario Museum in the spring of 2008
