Multicultural seniors groups participating in the Elders Financial Abuse Awareness Dialogue Project will present their completed projects. The Dialogue Project began in February 2010 with the
goal of increasing awareness and knowledge of ethnocultural seniors on how
to prevent financial abuse, and network with resources such as the
Association of Neighbourhood Houses of BC (ANHBC) and immigrant service
providers.
The event will give the Afghan, South Asian, Punjabi, Iranian, and other
multicultural seniors groups a chance to present their projects, which
include the North Shore's Victims to Champions Seniors Speaker Bureau, a
puppet show by Afghan seniors, and the presentation of the first Sisters
and Daughters Day on June 10th to celebrate South Asian girls. Funded by
HRSDC's New Horizons for Seniors program, in partnership with other
community organizations, the Elders Financial Abuse Awareness Dialogue
Project will be completed in June 2011.
