Dear Trusted Member of the SFU Community,

We invite you to organize outside of the next Board of Governor's meeting to call on the SFU administration to hear the university community's concerns about the Goldcorp donation.

SFU Against Goldcorp and Gentrification (SAGG) has been organizing since October 1st against the unaccountable actions of the university administration in accepting a private donation from the Goldcorp mining company. Over those months we have approached the administration with emails requesting explanations, letters seeking meetings, and proposals for discussions at their Board of Governors meetings. The Board has decided that no further action is warranted and will no longer address the issue.

At the same time, we have engaged in helpful discussions with other members of the university community. The Graduate Students Society and the Teaching Support Staff Union have endorsed the four demands that we have been taking forward to the administration, as have many members of SFU faculty, alumni and professors emeritus. These endorsements are only the effects of the far more important and extensive discussions we have been part of, from tabling at the Burnaby campus and presenting in classrooms, to being part of the important discussion facilitated by the SFU Visual Arts Students Union.

It is our goal to put the issue back on the table. Let us be heard. Join fellow students, faculty, and staff in support of democracy, transparency, and social justice at the public university.

Sincerely,

SFU Against Goldcorp and Gentrifcation
