We're inviting our supporters to spend an evening with us on June 10th at Rhizome Café.
Hope in Shadows is about building connections and strengthening communities. So we want to do just that by bringing our community of supporters and project participants together.
This special event will be an opportunity to connect with Hope in Shadows photographers and calendar vendors and hear about some new projects they've been working on, including being commissioned to create new photography for an interdisciplinary dance performance and being published in Megaphone's Voices of the Street. It'll also be a chance to help us brainstorm ideas for the 10th anniversary of Hope in Shadows coming up next year.
To top it off, we invite you to submit one of your own photographs for a photo contest that will take place on the night. Use the art of the photographic image to express what is important to you in your community. Email your entry to cwong[at]hopeinshadows.com or bring a print with you to the event. The winning image will be selected by Hope in Shadows photographers and the winner will receive a groovy prize pack! The one contest rule is you must be present at the event to win. One submission per attendee.
Each year Hope in Shadows brings the stories and perspectives of people living in the Downtown Eastside into thousands of homes and workplaces around the country, while providing meaningful and flexible employment to hundreds of low income people. The project's success has always depended on supporters who believe that the residents of the Downtown Eastside have the capacity to tell their own stories about their lives and their community. Please join us at this event to connect our communities in a meaningful way!
There is no cover charge to this event but capacity is limited to 70 people so please register here if you will be attending.
