The Vancouver Observer has published a great new book, titled Extract, and is throwing a launch party!

The controversy about oil sands pipelines has put B.C. on the stage of history, and Extract brings you the essence of that debate, including; the perspectives of First Nations, The Harper government’s assault on science, the impacts of climate change, and many others.

Please join us for the Vancouver Observer launch party on January 12, 2013 from 6:30 to 9:30 at Ceili's Irish Pub and Bar. The party takes place just 48 hours before the Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline hearings are coming to Vancouver.

The event will also feature special guest speakers Tzeporah Berman, Carrie Saxifrage, and Andrew S. Wright, and is generously sponsored by SPUD.ca, LUSH, Hollyhock, and more!

This is the perfect place for people to connect and get energized in this historic debate. Bring your dancing shoes!

Please share the invite with your contacts: http://vanobserver.eventbrite.com/

Thank you for reading this story...

More people are reading rabble.ca than ever and unlike many news organizations, we have never put up a paywall – at rabble we’ve always believed in making our reporting and analysis free to all. But media isn’t free to produce. rabble’s total budget is likely less than what big corporate media spend on photocopying (we kid you not!) and we do not have any major foundation, sponsor or angel investor. Our only supporters are people and organizations -- like you. This is why we need your help.

If everyone who visits rabble and likes it chipped in a couple of dollars per month, our future would be much more secure and we could do much more: like the things our readers tell us they want to see more of: more staff reporters and more work to complete the upgrade of our website.

We’re asking if you could make a donation, right now, to set rabble on solid footing in 2017.
