Now in its fourth year, the Halifax Independent Filmmakers Festival is dedicated to the exhibition of film and video as art, in a noncompetitive festival setting free from commercial and industry agendas. Focusing on Canadian artists and on the short film as a form of expression, HIFF takes place over six days each Spring in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Bookended by two parties, this year's festival includes close to 20 events and more than 80 films. Special guest artists include Canadian filmmakers Daniel Cockburn and Phil Hoffman along with Northern Ireland's legendary documentary filmmaker John T. Davis, all of who will have films screening at the festival. Local media artists James MacSwain and Amanda Dawn Christie will be honored with retrospectives of their works and the festival will present the launch of Ezra Winton and Tom Waugh's book "NFB: Challenge For Change" along with screenings of selected NFB films featured in the book.

Tickets for the 2010 Halifax Independent Filmmakers Festival are available at the AFCOOP offices located at 5600 Sackville Street in Halifax Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and through ticketpro.ca and at all TicketPro Atlantic locations.
