Celebrate the harvest and learn about the importance of food security at The Winchevsky Centre's outdoor community celebration of the Jewish harvest holiday Sukkes. People of all ages will enjoy fun and interactive activities including: decorating our sukkah, a scavenger hunt, nature walk, holiday music, stories and treats. Guest speaker Charles Levkoe will lead an interactive tasting experience of local produce, where participants will learn about the work and challenges of local growers and the impact on the global food system. This event is part of Culture Days.
A doctoral candidate working within the Canadian food movement, Charles Levkoe has worked as a consultant with The Stop Community Food Centre, ran a Community Shared Agriculture farm project in Nova Scotia, and has coordinated urban agriculture projects in Toronto.
