Indigenous Sovereignty Week gathers people together to build local relationships around the dissemination of ideas of Indigenism and to contribute to building a cross-Canada movement for Indigenous rights, self-determination, and justice for Indigenous communities.
The theme this year is: Celebrating Community Victories -- Standing up to the Harper Threat.
Highlights of this year's schedule include: Opening ceremony with Lee Maracle, Jimmy Dick, and Tannis Neilson; sharing circles on racialized peoples on stolen lands with the R3 Artists Collective, Seven Directions, and Robert Massoud; a panel and working groups on the path forward for missing and murdered women advocacy campaigns with Darlene Ritchie, Native Youth Sexual Healing Network, Wanda Whitebird, Faith Nolan, and Lee Maracle.
