UK TROUBADOUR LEON ROSSELSON COMING TO TORONTO The great English radical singer-songwriter Leon Rosselson will be giving a concert at Toronto's Palestinian cultural centre Beit Zatoun (http://beitzatoun.org/) on Saturday August 6th at 7:30 PM. Admission is $15 ($10 unwaged) with proceeds going to the to UK group Medical Aid for Palestinians (http://www.map-uk.org/).
Leon Rosselson has been one of the outstanding songwriters in the UK for more than fifty years. A number of his songs are standards, including The World Turned Upside Down, his tribute to the 17th Century English utopian communist group the Diggers. It was famously covered by Billy Bragg in the eighties. Last year Leon Rosselson released The Last Chance: Eight Songs on Israel-Palestine, an album that reflects his experiences and concerns as a secular left-wing Jew faced with the reality of the Israeli settler state. Proceeds from the sale of this album go to Medical Aid for Palestinians. Leon Rosselson is an active supporter of the BDS campaign.
