The 2010 Olympics have been touted as an economic saviour for the British Columbia economy during a downturn in the economy. What is the long term impact of investments like a speedskating oval, a new Sea-to-Sky Highway, the RAV line and a $900 million security budget? Who benefits, who pays and what are the impacts on citizens? What does the city and province look like after the games? How long will be paying for this? What are the opportunity costs for hosting the 2010 Olympics?
