Eljeer Hawkins, of Socialist Alternative (U.S.), discusses the rise of Bernie Sanders and the success of Socialist Alternative city councillor Kshama Sawant's re-election campaign in Seattle.

Eljeer is a community and anti-war activist, born and raised in Harlem, New York, member of Socialist Alternative/CWI for 21 years. Eljeer is a former shop steward with Teamsters local 851 and former member of SEIU 1199, currently is a non-union health-care worker in New York City. He contributes regularly to, Socialist Alternative Newspaper and socialistworld.net. Eljeer has lectured at Harvard University, Hunter College and the University of Toronto.
