In January, 2010 a Canadian Union of Public Employees Global Justice delegation, including four members from CUPE 4660 at Carleton University, travelled to the Philippines to learn how workers and human rights advocates fight for people's rights.

Since 2001 over 1,000 people have been killed or kidnapped by the military because they stand up for these rights. Despite the climate of impunity surrounding these violations of basic human rights, their sisters and brothers continue the struggle.

The delegation will relate their experiences and outline what we can do in Canada to support these brave people, and what we can learn from our Filipino sisters and brothers in our battle for social justice.

Sponsored by CUPE 4600, the Ontario Committee for Human Rights in the Philippines, and the International Solidarity Committee of the Ottawa and District Labour Council.
