Tony Burman joined Al Jazeera English as Managing Director in May 2008, where he
oversees an international news and current affairs channel that reaches more than 140
million homes in more than 100 countries. This follows a distinguished career as a
broadcast executive and award-winning news producer at the CBC.
Under his leadership, AJE (Al Jazeera English) has been widely recognized for its
groundbreaking worldwide reportage.
Mr. Burman's lecture will focus on Al Jazeera's recent application to the CRTC
for a license to broadcast in Canada; he will also discuss how Canadians can
support this application.
