Do you want to learn a whole lot more about writing for TV, Advertising Commercials or Animation pieces? If so, the TSMG is proud to present a very special evening event featuring Mary Bredin, Vice President of Guru Studio a major Toronto-based production house.

Bredin is involved in all aspects of running a full service design and animation studio, creating content across all media platforms, as well as producing commercials and animated series. Guru studios are the powerhouse behind the animation service work for the long-running series’ - ‘The Backyardigans’ & ‘Babar’.

Focusing on the development of original content for Guru Studio, Bredin is always looking to acquire new projects and content for Guru’s growing development slate and will welcome 3 select pitches from TSMG members on the night.

During her tenure at Guru, the studio has gone into production on its first show, JUSTIN TIME for Family Channel/Playhouse Disney and has another show in development with a major international broadcaster. Bredin’s focus is on developing ideas that are really unique in the market. Her previous roles included 8 years at the Disney Channels in London, England, as Director of Programming + Acquisitions for the Worldwide Programming Strategy group and Director of Acquisitions for Viasat, the broadcast division of the Modern Times Group.

Bredin has held a variety of production and business affairs/legal jobs with producers including Nelvana. In addition, she is presently on the Board of WIFT - Toronto. Bredin is also a fully qualified lawyer called to the Bar of Ontario.

Bredin will be opening the Guru Studio doors to a lucky 25 TSMG Members for an evening event, bestowing valuable knowledge about developing proposals for TV shows and providing useful pitching tips. We are also very lucky as her colleague, Dan Pratezina, will also be on hand to speak about writing for animations. We will also be treated to an episode of JUSTIN TIME, Guru’s animated series currently in production for the FAMILY CHANNEL. Dan Pratezina, Animation Supervisor at Guru Studio, will be discussing the art of writing for animations and lending his ear to hear some pitches for animations.

If you would like to be considered for one of the available pitching slots please submit a ONE-PAGE pitch description, keeping in mind Guru Studio’s extensive list of past works and what their expertise are.
