Toronto Pig Save (TPS) is holding a series of protests at what we dub "The Un-Royal Agricultural Winter Fair" because of its treatment of enslaved mammals, aka "livestock."
Specifically, TPS will protest the five animal slave auctions and barbaric rodeo taking place at this year's Un-Royal Winter Fair.
Artworks by Caitlin Black and our special handout for the Un-Royal Fair appear on our homepage at www.torontopigsave.org
This week we will be protesting at the following times and locations:
* Friday, Nov 4th: Protest 2-5 pm at Lakeshore & Strachan then enter the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and bear witness to the pig auction from 5pm - 6pm, followed by a cow auction at 6:30 pm. We will also be in front of the Princess Gates.
* Saturday, Nov 5th: regular Protest 8-10 am at Lakeshore & Strachan then leafleting in front of the Princess Gates.
* Sunday, Nov 6 12-2: Rodeo protest in conjunction with Compassion for Animals across from the Exhibition at Lakeshore & Strachan.
The mission of Toronto Pig Save is to "make slaughterhouses have glass walls," including Quality Meat Packers, Toronto's downtown pig slaughterhouse. QMP kills 7,000 pigs a day - that is, 35,000 pigs a week! At last year's Fair, QMP and Fearman's -the two biggest pig slaughterhouses in Ontario- both bid on pigs at the pig slave auction only to send their ‘prizes' to an ignominious death at their slaughterhouses.
Toronto Pig Save is an animal rights, pro-labour group in support of a just transition towards a food economy that is organic, local, whole-grain, and plant-based - that is, vegan.
