Location
W2 Moving Party is a celebration of Vancouver's ‘creative commons' built over the past year at W2 Storyeum, which is scheduled to move across the street to the new Woodward's Atrium. W2 Moving Party aims to celebrate our collective achievements with more than thirty sound, media, and visual artists showcasing Vancouver's cultural underground in one spectacular space. The festival-like event will also help bring attention to W2's eight years of work to create a community media arts centre within the Woodward's complex-scheduled to open in mid-May.
W2 invites everyone to join us for our final night in the W2 Storyeum space and to celebrate with a diverse mix of collaborating cultural organizations and crews that have made the past year an exceptional mix of innovative cultural programming. These include New Forms Festival, CJSF Radio, Coop Radio, SHAH DJs, Perception, Lighta!, Low Indigo, Application Audio, Knowledgeable Aboriginal Youth Association, Red Gate, BASSCoast Project, Subversive, Open Media and more. Visual, media and sound artists will be performing including DVS1 (Minnesota USA), J.F.Killah, TJ Hooker, Johnny Dubz, Michael Red, The Librarian, Krista Lomax, No Gold, Humans, Tassels, Prison Garde, Niña Mendoza, Dr. Spiny, Jamie Bizness, Shawna McLellan, Sydney Koke, Sammy Chien, Peter Hagge, and many more.
60,000 people have come together at W2 Storyeum this past year to participate in cultural and socially progressive events like Utopia Festival: Women In Digital Culture, W2 LIGHTS NYE, and Redbull MegaHurtz, that push creative boundaries and encourage dialogue within our communities. With a diverse mix of programming partners, we've opened minds and expanded perspectives, within a public space owned by the citizens of Vancouver. In these difficult financial times, W2 has received no public arts funding and operated entirely with self-generated revenues.
