The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada is holding a youth-oriented video contest called 25@25. In recognition of the Foundation's 25th anniversary, the contest asks the next generation of Canadians (ages 18-35) what they think are the 25 most important issues in Canada-Asia relations. Entrants are invited to share their ideas as video shorts. The shorts can be presented in any style: Anything from a rant to camera to a visual collage, an animated short, or a mini-feature. With a whopping $5,000 grand prize, 25@25 sets out to inspire the next generation to think about Asia.
The contest will run from September 17, 2009 - December 31, 2009. The Vancouver workshop is designed to:
- 1) Create awareness about the contest
- 2) Provide meaningful opportunities for likeminded youth to engage with each other, brainstorm, discuss, and strategize ways to create impactful new media messages
- 3) Be learning experiences for both the facilitators and participants, to better understand what young Canadians feel is most important for Canada's Future with Asia.
- 4) Invite media to observe and report on 25@25 project goals and objectives
The Vancouver workshop's Guest Facilitator will be Catrina Longmuir from the Nat'l Film Board of Canada.
