The members of Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO), teachers and occasional teachers, will be taking province-wide strike action as of Monday, May 11, 2015. Right now, in Ontario Durham public secondary school teachers have been on strike.

As of today, May 7th, the secondary school teachers in Durham region, Peel region and the Rainbow District School Board in Sudbury are on strike.  Durham region secondary teachers go back into negotiations on May 8th, Friday.

Union members are taking this action in response to demands during central bargaining from OPSBA and the Liberal government that would strip collective agreements, reduce teachers’ ability to use their professional judgement when providing instruction, and compromise students’ learning conditions.

One of the main issues is class sizes.  Send Minister Lis Sandals and your MP an email, saying you support smaller class sizes here.
