As of August 10, 2017, the Ontario government agreed to cover access to mifegymiso. Mifegymiso, also known by the name RU-486, is a two-drug combination of mifepristone and misoprostol that can be used to terminate a pregnancy up to 49 days. However, less than 3% of GPs in surveyed local areas have taken or are registered to take the online training required in order to prescribe the drug. Please sign this petition to demand that Health Canada ensures that at least 50% of GPs in Ontario are trained in prescribing Mifegymiso by 2018.
On October 4th, 2017 the Ontario government introduced a law creating a ‘bubble zone’ around all abortion clinics in Ontario so that people who are going into the clinic feel a little safer. The bill is expected to be passed soon. Recently pro-life groups have taken to buying ads and posting graphic images of fetuses on billboards and buses. Check out the Abortion Rights Coaliton of Canada’s site for more information about the ongoing fights.
