The rabble book lounge is proud to present a new approach to our Book Club: the babble Book Club! In the babble book club we take a more traditional style by choosing the same book, picking a timeline and then letting the conversation fly between everyone!

The babble Book Club was conceived from the idea that rabble.ca has cultivated a critically-minded, engaged and interesting following, especially those active on the babble forum pages. With so many readers discussing each and every facet about books, authors and writing, the idea arose: “why don’t we start a book club for babblers about books they want to review and discuss?” And thus, the babble Book Club was born.

Each session, cleverly titled “chapters,” will feature a selection from a babbler and as a reading community we will all dive in to promote great conversation around great literature. My hopes with this book club, although at times selfish it seems, is to expose others (and myself) to different genres and writers that we may not have read initially, dig up some favourites to discuss and shed new light upon, and in general promote books and readings. There are no limits to selections here! Books could be mainstream, how-to, cult, non-fiction, literature, short stories, and on and on.

Out first pick, or Chapter One, has already been chosen — through a somewhat long and arduous process I might add and documented ever so well on babble — and is the sure-to-be great Haruki Murakami’s The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. We have set the reading completion date to be January 15 and have opened up a forum page for all the conversation during everyone’s reading. We will have lots of questions and comments during the reading process, but won’t reveal it all until January 15th when it is a no-holds barred affair of discussion, impressions and thoughts.

Don’t worry about meeting times or places, the babble Book Club will always be there waiting for your questions and answers!

We are also on Facebook for even more discussion, links and connection.
