NB gets first aboriginal L-G

Judge Graydon Nicholas is being hailed as an inspiration and a hero by those who have worked with the man who will be New Brunswick's next lieutenant-governor.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced on Thursday that Nicholas, who is the first aboriginal person to hold the post, will take over as the Queen's representative in New Brunswick.

Nicholas, who is Maliseet and was born and raised in the Tobique First Nation, was the province's first aboriginal lawyer and judge.
