'Pundits Are Outraged' (and vid)

"Pundits are outraged over the disappearance or likely execution of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi. But where was the outrage over the last three years as the Saudis obliterated Yemen? (with the contribution of arms from Canada)

CrossTalk: Re: Khashoggi (and vid)

"After repeated denials, the Saudis are now expected to change their story on the fate of Jamal Khashoggi. Was he the victim  of abduction and torture that went too far? Donald Trump has expressed concern, but little more. Could Riyadh get away with murder?

Jeremy Corbyn Calls For Saudi Arms Sales Suspension Amid Jamal Khashoggi Disappearance

Hello Canada, here's how it's done!

Mainstream Outrage Over Khashoggi Overshadows Yemen War...(and vid)

"Anya Parampil shares comments from President Trump, who says a 'rogue' actor could be responsible for the alleged killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Anya asks former UK MP George Galloway what it tells us about the press that its reported more on Khashoggi's disappearance than Yemenis suffering from cholera and famine thanks to Saudi policies."

the only reason why we’ve heard about this alleged murder is because the western government allows it.

Heres what I’m starting to suspect. Syria victory and Iranian isolation was a huge loss for the west and particularly Saudia Arabia Israel

when I was in China recently, the state media was hammering on Israel non stop every fucking day! CCTV7, the Chinese military channel was even describing in detail how the Israel military used that Russian plane to avoid the s-200 defence system among other Israel crimes. The Chinese are painting the Israel government the criminals that they really are.

Here in the west, as we both know, Israel walks. But I believe that China Russia India Turkey Pakistan Iran and probably other countries are so powerful and united in the region that the West is scared shitless and wants out ASAP!

Makes perfect sense to throw Saudia Arabia under the bus to cover their ass!

This also is directly related to the recent US spies tampering with the recent Brazil election and Venezuela assassination. The west probably wants to cut off China Russia India from making inroads into South America, the final frontier for US imperialism.

Glad to hear the Zios are getting the coverage they deserve on Chinese media. Here it's a wasteland as you can probably tell by all the Guardian, WaPo and NYT posts. No wonder they think the way they do.  Don't know how 'powerful and united' those regional countries are but I'll hope you're right and continue as best I can to monitor facts on the ground. I think Saudi is doing a great job throwing themselves under the bus. Here's hoping they take some of their international 'friends' under there with them...

Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker, R-Tennessee, says that the Trump administration has "clamped down" on intelligence regarding the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. He told the Washington Post that an intelligence briefing scheduled for Tuesday had been canceled and for the time being, there would be no more intelligence shared with the Senate.

Margaret Kimberley: Jamal Khashoggi and US Hypocrisy

"The corporate media cry crocodile tears over the apparent murder of an elite CIA-connected 'dissident' while papering over US complicity in Saudi warcrimes in Yemen. The Saudis may kill 50 Yemeni children on a school bus and get only a few mild rebukes, but killing a prominent man is another story entirely. The disappearance and presumed murder of Jamal Khashoggi, puts the corrupt relationship between Saudi Arabia and the US in high relief. The two countries have been partners in crime over many years. Together they used jihadist proxies to make war in Afghanistan Libya and Syria that furthered US interests.

Barack Obama, darling of the liberal imperialists, was only slightly less subservient to the kingdom than Trump is today. The Yemen attack began during his term in office. He continued the tradition of $100 billion defense deals with the feudal monarchy and made the relationship a top priority. Trump differs from Obama and other presidents only in his inability to be diplomatic. When first asked about a possible response to Khashoggi's disappearance he made it clear that he would do nothing to threaten war contractor profits. [Trudeau has made it similarly clear he won't either.]

In defending the clown prince he named Boeing, Raytheon and Lockheed by name as he dismissed any talk of sanctions. The hypocrisy doesn't end with Trump and Kushner. It can be seen in the corporate media who cover for a war crime against Yemen. There are no heroes in this story."

The New Fall-Guy For the Khashoggi Murder

The US Mainstream Media is Ignoring the Israel-Saudi Arabia De Facto Alliance

"Over the past week or so, Saudi Arabia has gotten more US mainstream media coverage than at any time in decades. But conspicuously missing has been any reporting on the kingdom's growing friendship with Israel - a de facto alliance that may help explain why Clown Prince Mohammedd bin Salman thought that he could get away with ordering the murder of dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi. A recent poll by Ipsos shows that more than 84 percent of Canadians oppose sales of arms to Saudi Arabia, amid evidence that Canadian weapons have been used against Saudi dissidents, as well as in the horrific war in Yemen, a war fuelled by arms sales to the Saudi coalition that has cost the lives of thousands of civilians."

Canada Must Stop The Sales of Arms To Saudi Arabia

Worst. Cover story. Ever.

Tucker Carlson on Jamal Khashoggi's Murder (and vid)

"It's not surprising but what is confusing is the mindless posturing by our own ruling class. They are telling us that his murder is more important than the countless children the Saudis have bombed and starved in Yemen???"

You're at a disadvantage in a fist fight when your fingers have been cut off.

Just like the Saudis to bring a bone-saw to a fist-fight.

Some of the Celebs Who Helped MBS's PR Push Last Year

Has It Ever Been This Clear?

"Mike got the memo along with Jonathan Freedland, The NYT, WaPo and all the rest: 'Diss the Saudis now guys, remember the Yemen war; get upset about it.' Has it ever been this clear they are just mouthpieces? Willing to voice any opinions the right people tell them to."

Memo from whom?

Good question. You read them. Why not ask them why the sudden u-turn on the Saudi party-line?

Be Skeptical Whenever the Political/Media Class Converges on a Single Narrative

"...This is one of those rare stories that has drawn the focus of both mainstream and alternative media, the latter because it's seen as an opportunity to criticize the west's extremely immoral involvement in the depraved activities in a murderous theocracy, and because it's an opportunity to attack the hypocrisy of the establishment in decrying the murder of a single man while ignoring Saudi Arabia's far more unconscionable behavior like its war crimes in Yemen and facilitating of bloodshed in Syria. Killing one man is very, very far from the top of the list of the most horrific things Saudi Arabia has done; criticizing them for that is like criticizing Henry Kissinger for not tipping well at restaurants.

I haven't joined in the fray of commenting about this story because I do not trust it. Whenever you see the politicians and media all converge in agreement across political lines upon a single narrative with a great deal of focus and  promotion, it's time to turn up the dial on your skepticism, especially when that narrative involves foreign policy..."

Maybe because it, tangentially, hit their profession.  It was personal.

voice of the damned

The alt-left has trouble keeping its story straight.

In Post 227, Off Guardian says that the mainstream media is suddenly giving coverage to the Yemen War, but for the wrong reasons. Okay, maybe that's true.

But then in post 280, Caitlin Johnstone accuses the mainstream media of "decrying the murder of a single man while ignoring Saudi Arabia’s far more unconscionable behavior like its war crimes in Yemen".

So which is it? Is the mainstream media now ignoring the war in Yemen, or are they reporting it for the wrong reasons?

voice of the damned

And since Off-Guardian spends so much time monitoring the Guardian, I have to wonder if they had previously noticed stuff like this...

HEADLINE: The war in Yemen is disastrous. America is only making things worse

"And there it is. Canada's contribution to the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. Weapons of war."

'My question today: What will it take for this government to stop selling arms to Saudi Arabia?' MP Laverdiere @ #271

Obviously torturing and killing someone who had been an insider and broke ranks to some extent is not "worse" than the mass killing and abuse of Yemenis, or the Saudis' role in many atrocities abroad - in Arabo-Muslim countries even more than in Europe or North America, but it is telling about the deep perversity of the régime. It makes me think of the Nazis killing Rommel or rather forcing him to commit suicide.

And then there is this: Khashoggi and a cat.

'An Explosive Turn of Events'

Saudis Admit Khashoggi's Murder - Offer Weak Cover Up

"The Saudis still need to come up with a better narrative. The current one is not sufficient. The most important question that should have been answered by now is: Where is the dismembered body? TRNN: As Saudi Confirms Khashoggi's Murder, Will We Stop Its Murder in Yemen? (and vid)

Khashoggi's Body Parts Found in Garden of Saudi Consul General's Home - Sources (and vid)

Speaking before the Turkish parliament on Tuesday, Erdogan said that 'the evidence we have so far collected indicate that Jamal Khashoggi was slain in a vicious, violent murder,' planned in advance by the Saudi government.

Further reports in Turkish media have claimed that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman actually phoned Khashoggi and tried to convince him to return to Saudi Arabia. 'Difficult' Binds Canada To Saudi LAV Deal, Trudeau Says (and vid)

"Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says it's difficult to break Canada's deal to supply light armoured vehicles to Saudi Arabia because of the way the contract was negotiated by the previous Conservative government. 'The contract signed by the previous government by Stephen Harper, makes it very difficult to suspend or leave that contract,' Trudeau told Matt Galloway on CBC's Metro Morning on Tuesday. 'We are looking at a number of things, but it is a difficult contract.'

'I actually can't go into it, because part of the deal on this contract is not talking about this contract, and it's one of the binds that we are left in because of the way the contract was negotiated.'

Even before Khashoggi's death, human rights advocates said Canada should not be supplying the Saudis with military vehicles that could assist in its ongoing military intervention in Yemen, where civilians have been brutally targeted. Trudeau said he understands this situation 'very well', calling it 'incredibly frustrating.'

'The government should stop hiding behind a contract and cancel the LAV deal, says law professor and former Bloc MP Daniel Turp. 'I'm very disappointed  in this lack of political will and hiding behind a contract we've never seen. There's something wrong. Canada could do something if it had the will to do it.
