The previously unpublished diary by Ernesto "Che" Guevara de la Serna- Diario de un combatiente, Sierra Maestra- Santa Clara (1956-1958) [Diary of a Combatant, Sierra Maestra - Santa Clara (1956-1958)] will be launched on June 14, 2011, at the International Press Center in Havana, Cuba. The launch coincides with Che Guevara's birth date. It includes a prologue by Armando Hart, one of his friends and fellow combatants.
Description: Previously unpublished, Diario de un combatiente presents unrepeatable moments of armed struggle in Cuba from the arrival of the Granma yacht off the eastern coast of the country, on December 2, 1956, to the revolutionary triumph of January 1, 1959, narrated by one of its main protagonists, the Argentine Commander Ernesto Che Guevara. In its pages the reader will find reflections on situations that gain more depth and complexity with Che's descriptions, as he became increasingly more committed in the revolutionary battle. The testimony and human value emanating from this reading leads to a new approach to Che's perceptions of the realities of the island, its culture, its identity and political context; [the diary] recounts his first experiences and the real significance of a feat dedicated to the liberation of the Cuban people.
