A Conservative staffer who was fired for leaking a key pre-budget committee report told MPs Tuesday he had applied to work for all five of the lobbying firms who received his email leak.
Russell Ullyatt, who until last month was an assistant to Conservative MP Kelly Block, appeared Tuesday as a witness before the House of Commons procedure committee as part of an investigation into a breach of parliamentary privilege.
....Four of the five lobbyists who received the leak had worked for Conservative politicians either federally or provincially.
The fifth lobbyist, Canadian Gas Association President and CEO Timothy Egan, has contributed financially to the Conservatives.
The committee learned that when one lobbyist, Lynne Hamilton, received the leak, she responded to Mr. Ullyatt “I [heart] you.”
